Considered as the second largest airport in Northern China, the Tianjin Binhai International Airport covers 400,000 square meters with a parking apron that can accommodate simultaneously a maximum of 40 airplanes. It is situated in Zhanggui Zhuang, Dongli District.
In the past few years, expansion and reconstruction has been done to the airport which accounts for an estimated amount of nearly 3 billion Yuan or 409.5 million U.S. dollars. Covered in the airport expansion project are the construction of a larger state-of-the-art terminal building started in August 2005 and the expansion of the airport’s area from 25 km² to 80 km². A second runway has also been constructed on May 2009.
Among international airlines that have benefited from these improvements are Asiana Airlines, AirAsia X, Air China and Shandong Airlines. There are also cargo airlines like Airstars, Altant-Soyuz Airlines, Singapore Airlines Cargo, TESIS Aviation Enterprise and Volga-Dnepr.
