San José is the capital and largest city of Costa Rica that is located in the Central Valley. The city lies above sea level, and enjoys a stable climate throughout the year.
There are numerous lovely attractions for you to see and visit, such as the El Pueblo that is a mix of more than fifty bars, clubs, restaurants, art galleries and shops; the Pueblo Antiguo is a theme park with lots of fun and colors; it has many museums; the National Theater; the Melico Salazar Theatre, where national coffee is prepared and served in typical Costa Rican ways.
San Jose has many museums and other attractions that offer alternative ways of exploring the city. One of these is the Gold Museum, which offers an unusual view of various gold artifacts of the ancient Latin American civilizations; Lankester Botanical Garden features an impressive collection of orchids; the Arenal Volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in America, you can hike around the volcano and enjoy tremble ground and seeing the nightly sky exploded with ash and lava; there is an extraordinary opportunity to see a primary forest and its natural splendor at first hand, while riding the open-air gondolas with canvas awnings; the Democracy Plaza and the National Museum, the Courts, Los Yoses, San Pedro Mall, Hispanidad Fountain. The Jade Museum with its' display of 6,000 pieces of mesmerizing pre-colombian jade, clay, stone and gold artifacts; the dazzling Pre-Columbian Gold Museum features one of the most valuable and impressive collections of pre-Colombian gold in the world.
Other attractions include various bars and clubs which concentrate their activity on holding musical shows and events for you to attend and enjoy. One of them is the Sand Live Event, which is a very big inside and outside bar and concert hall which usually holds rock and extreme metal concerts. Enjoy a day in the sun on the board Calypso’s foot state, with a vast amount of art catamaran while taking a swim in the fresh water deck pools.
While in San Jose you may partake in any of their fabulous activities, such as the Rio Reventazón white-water rafting, while enjoying the splendid jungle scenery and wildlife. The Rio Pacuare white-water rafting is Costa Rica's most scenic and with thickly vegetated gorges waterfalls, cheerful wildlife and ravishing torrents. The Butterfly Farm teaches you the incredible details of the complex life cycle of some of the world's most beautiful butterflies. The Irazú Volcano features winding past beautiful scenery and fantastic views before ending at the awe-inspiring crater. Once you reach the top of the misty Volcano you will be amazed by its planetary landscape. On the way down, you can tour the relics of the old parish and the splendid Basilica de Los Angeles that is Costa Rica's most blessed shrine.
The Plaza de la Cultura is a large square that is pleasant spot for you to stroll or purchase some souvenirs, soak up the sun, or watch marimba bands, clowns, jugglers, and colorfully dressed South Americans playing Andean music. The National Theater features opera, classical music and other performances for you to enjoy.
