The warm, tropical, palm-fringed beaches are the main attraction in the city of Miami, the largest city in Florida.
The city of Miami is the largest in Florida, and is a major hub for business and tourism. It’s warm and tropical, and if you’re looking for palm fringed beaches, this is a good place to find them.
Miami International Airport and Fort Lauderdale Airport both serve the city, and there are buses and trains, both to and in the city, so getting in and getting around is no problem.
When in Miami, you’ll want to spend time on the beaches, and some of the best are at Haulover Beach Park in Sunny Isles, where surfing and windsurfing, as well as nude sunbathing, are all allowed and enjoyed. Lummus Park Beach, on the other hand, is one that most people have seen – in movies or photos at least. It’s beautiful, and it’s where you’ll find the famous Promenade.
The city has a very strong Latin influence, and there are neighborhoods like Little Havana, where nearly everyone speaks Spanish. To explore this a little further, and understand the Spanish influence on the city, visit landmarks like the Ancient Spanish Monastery – built in the mid 12th century.
Venetian Pool is another Miami tradition you may want to explore – it’s a converted limestone quarry, dating back to the early 20th century, with snack bars and other facilities – great for kids. Then there’s the Miami MetroZoo, with well over a thousand animals on display, and Jungle Island, a taste of tropical Miami.
Many Miami hotels combine restaurants and bars with accommodation, so if you find one that does, you’ll have entertainment on tap. There are, however, plenty of restaurants, bars and clubs in town, so even if you don’t, there are options from salsa to alternative rock! When it comes to sleeping, some of the best hotels are the Marriott Biscayne Bay, which is on the water, or the Trump International Beach Resort, although there are hotels throughout the city, as well as hostels and motels, so options abound.
