Aotea Centre
Aotea Centre is the largest performing arts and event centre/theatre located in the Central Business District of Auckland, New Zealand. It is managed by “The Edge” who also operates Auckland Town Hall and Auckland Civic Theatre. The centre’s construction was finished in 1989. It opened in 1990 costing $128.5 million. It features a range of foyers, galleries, function rooms, an ASB Auditorium and a Herald Theatre. All venues are accessible to guests with mobility problems with combination of lifts and ramps. ASB Auditorium, a lyric theatre, can seat 2,256 people over three levels. Herald Theatre is a home for small independent theatre companies, can seat 186 people and has its own bar area and foyer space. Tickets on a chosen event can be bought and inquiries can be made by phone, in person, and online. A call centre is open Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, Sunday and public holidays at 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Public car park is near the venue, Civic car park being located below the centre with more than 700 spaces. Public transport and taxis are transport choices in visiting Aotea Centre. Rendezvous Auckland, Heritage Hotel Auckland and City Life Auckland are within minutes away from the centre with the Events Team liaising to ensure proper accommodation.
