Being a large city, Romania is very interesting and exciting, with much to offer in the way of things to see and do, including plenty of nightlife.
Anyone planning a trip to Romania is likely to pass through Bucharest, the largest city, and capital. However, it’s an interesting and exciting city, a mix of old culture and modern convenience, and it’s well worth spending some time exploring what is on offer. Being such a large city, there is a lot, in the way of clubs, bars, restaurants and other nightlife on offer, and a convenient (and free) weekly guide, gives you all the details of happenings in the city. With a history that spans centuries however, what most visitors spend most of their time doing is exploring landmarks. Old centre holds a jumble of medieval buildings, 19th century structures and other interesting pieces of architectural history, while the Parliament Palace, built in the eighties, may not be old, but it is an interesting place to visit, and at just forty five minutes, a tour won’t cut too much into your itinerary. Museums like the Old Court Museum, Peasants museum, and Village Museum are dotted all over the city, along with art galleries and museums, and you can explore Romania’s history, natural heritage, aviation and more through visits to these. The Botanical Garden is probably the best known and patronized park in Bucharest, however there are little areas of green dotted throughout the city, some of which have sporting facilities, open air theaters, and even man made lakes, so while Bucharest’s weather may not always be suitable for outdoor activities, if you are in the city in summer, and have a sunny afternoon to spare, why not do a little exploring. Piata Romana is where you will find most of the high end boutiques, and, like any other big city in Europe, you’ll find most big brands and designer labels in stock. Shopping malls, book stores, and a few curio stores are also found in the city, so you should be able to spend a pleasant day or two shopping if you want to. Finish off a day with an evening at one of the many restaurants, that range from Indian cuisine at the Taj Indian to traditional Romanian far at Jaristea and others, and then head off for a night clubbing, like the forty year old Club A, or any one of numerous others. With so much to see and do in Bucharest, comfortable accommodations are critical, and you won’t be disappointed – from camp sites to the Hilton Athenee Palace, every need, budget and preference is covered in this city.
