The town of Kemer is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country of Turkey.
The town of Kemer lies on the shores of the Gulf of Antalya, in Mediterranean Turkey. It is backed by the Taurus Mountains, and with its warm, sunny climate, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country.
Kemer is an old town, but it was not until the early 1900’s, when a wall was built around the town to protect it from storms, that it began to be known by that name. In fact, until the 1960’s, there was no road access to the town. That has all changed, and the area has been developed significantly since then, but it somehow manages to retain some of that old world charm nonetheless.
Beaches, like the nearby Moonlight beach, are a big part of the attraction of Kemer; however, these are mainly stony, rather than sandy. The Kemer Marina is another big attraction, as are the pine forests that extend onto the mountains. There are also annual festivals, sporting events, and in the summer, big name DJ’s descend on the area for large parties.
