The city of York is an ancient cathedral city in the county of Yorkshire, England, which has a history that predates the Roman invasion of England.
There are buses into the city from a variety of centers in the United Kingdom, as well as trains from several cities, or you could choose to fly to Leeds-Bradford Airport, which is about thirty miles from the city. Once in York, the old city is easily explored on foot, and there are buses to get you to other parts of the city. It is also very bicycle friendly, so if you are a keen cyclist, this is a great place to visit.
